I have had 7 back surgeries; had the last one in Sept. past. I got a little better and then fell behind again. I am handicapped and use a wheelchair. On April 11 I am having arthritis surgery to remove the nubs on my right finger knuckles. I fight an uphill health battle all the time, but nothing like what you are facing. You are in my heart and prayers. Put me in yours. I hope this ortho hand surgeon can get my fingers working again! Thanks for remembering... Kate.
Dear Lord, Please help those who are facing challenges... please guide them to see the light thru darkness... the beauty amid ugliness... the joy beyond sorrow. May they reflect back at yesterday and find happiness, look forward to tomorrow with faith, and find peace in today... knowing that their soul is filled with Your pure love... Dear Lord these things we pray.

Sylvia's Requests
Please continue to pray for “Z” - the mother of twins who is contemplating aborting them. Supposedly there is an I LOVE ABORTION group that will support her financially in the decision to go through with the abortion. There are so many who would love these babies……my heart breaks.
Speaking of twins - not sure if you have heard about the young couple who became parents to twin girls - the young mom Jenna is gravely ill, having been dx with a cancer that started in the placenta. Her husband Brandon is in the military but is able to be with her. Please pray for Jenna and Brandon - for their precious daughters and all who are caring for them.

day 24 post transplant
21 hours ago
Hello to all! Feeling a bit cut off from the world as Alex has only been able to go to and from the Duke Clinic since February 28th.
Alexs lab reports have been good however, his kidneys have been showing a slight strain. He has been getting a few hours of saline a day to help flush them out as the medications that are preventing other things are causing this.
Soon we will get cell growth results of what percent of cells are his and what percent are his brothers. this growth will continue for a while however a preliminary result will give us a sneak peek of how his brothers cells are doing on taking over Alex's body. We pray for a high percent as we want all cells to be Joshs.
Alex has been riding the stationary bike 4-5 miles a day even though he has felt horrific he has great determination to continue healing and rebuild his body. God gives him this strength!
We have met a few couples who are undergoing similar treatments with similar diseases and we ask for your prayers for them as well.
Thank you to everyone for your amazing support.

Subject: Fw: PLEASE ADD LEVI TO THE PRAYER CHAIN AT ST. THOMAS
It is Angie Funk again asking to add my grandson, Levi, to the prayer chain at church. If you remember, he was born 2 months premature on Dec. 22nd and your group was praying for him at that time. He is now doing well, up to 9 lbs, but is going to require (2) surgeries.
The First operation is for two hernias which is being done at St. Christopher's hospital in Philly this Monday, March 31st.
And then a second operation at the same hospital on April 24th to Un-fuse the lobes in his forehead that the Neurosurgeon is doing.
Thanks again.

Plea for a Living Donor -- Kidney Needed for Transplant
Sheldon Lentz...requests...
I need another kidney transplant. Since this will be my fourth transplant, my doctors are strongly recommending that I find someone who is willing to be a living donor. This donor could be nearly any healthy person. If he or she is not a good match for me it is still possible to donate on my behalf through a paired transplant exchange program. If you, or anyone you know, might be interested in donating a kidney to me or on my behalf, you can contact Johns Hopkins Comprehensive Transplant Center at 410-614-9345 and they can tell you how to proceed. The initial testing phase of this process can be entirely anonymous if you prefer. You don’t have to tell me, or anyone else, you are being worked up as a potential living donor. For more information, go to http://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/transplant/living_donors/.
Please feel free to forward this message or re-post it. And of course your prayers are appreciated!
Thank you,
Sheldon Lentz

Sylvia's Warriors... Kim/Bill dx Hodgkins Lymphoma, Pat
Please pray for my friend Kim’s husband Bill - when Bill was in his 30’s, he was dx with Hodgkins Lymphoma - and has had a clean bill of health all these years - well he’s been having back pain for months - Kim has been after him to see the Dr - since they are leaving next week for Hawaii to visit their daughter, he decided he should go and get a cortisone shot or something - well his physician sent him right for an MRI - they are waiting for the report - please pray that it’s just something that maybe medication can give him relief, and nothing more alarming. Interestingly we just received a prayer request for Pat (below) that includes the Healing Prayer written by Fr Larry Hess who recently passed away - he had Hodgkins Lymphoma years ago as well - so when Bill was dx, Fr. Hess spent some time with Bill. Thanks for praying. xoxo
Please pray for Pat, a young father of three who was just diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Thank you.
Prayer of healing by Rev. Larry J. Hess of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church

"Heavenly Father, I call on You right now in a special way. It is through Your power
that Pat was created. Every breath he takes, every morning he wakes and every moment of every hour, he lives under Your power.
"For if You created Pat from nothing, You can certainly re-create him.
Fill him with the healing power of Your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in him. Mend what is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Open up any blocked arteries or veins and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection.
"Let the warmth of Your healing love pass through
Pat's body to make new any unhealthy areas so that his body will function the way You created it to function.
"And Father, restore Pat to full health in mind, body and spirit,
so he may serve You the rest of his life.
"I ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen."

Sylvia's Requests... Aunt Judy. Infant "E" tumor
GREAT NEWS!!!
Subject: praise report!

To: Sylvia Pituch <shareprayer.sylvia@gmail.com>
Thank you so much for praying for 2yr old "E" when she got sick this weekend. Her aunt sent this positive update as surgery was wrapping up this morning. Praise the Lord! Thank you for your prayers as she recovers. ~Cheryl
"No tumor! Hallelujah! They did a craniotomy this morning and discovered it is an abscess caused by an infection that will be treated with antibiotics over the next 6 weeks. They are finishing up right now inserting a picc line that will deliver the antibiotics to her heart from what I understood. She'll be in the hospital a few more days as the culture grows and the doctors determine the exact strain/type to learn how to treat it better. Praising God and feeling relieved. Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts over the last days - it was felt"

Date: March 24, 2014 at 7:02:38 AM CDT
Dear Prayer Warriors,
Would you please pray for a 2.5yr old "E". I received this info from her aunt: This morning she had a headache, threw up, started acting odd, began being twitchy and lost some movement on her left side. Initial scans show that she has a lesion on the right side of her brain - a tumor or something growing they think. They will do surgery for a biopsy, not sure when, probably Monday and get more info on what is going on.
And please add my dear Aunt Judy to your prayers, too. She's been in the hospital for 2 weeks - heart & lungs are failing - moving to nursing home w/ hospice. She told me she's not in pain so please pray the pain stays away & she has a peaceful passing. Thank you.
Much love, Cheryl

Richard Zarski, Special Olympics broken leg
It is with careful consideration that I request prayers for a CUBS fan...
From: Amelia
Subject: Prayer Request
Date: March 19, 2014 at 9:06:14 PM CDT
To: Rick Bockwinkel
Sunday while celebrating his team's bronze medal win in the state special Olympic basketball tournament my brother Richard fell off a curb and broke his leg in numerous spots. He was bout 3 hours from home so they braced the leg and sent him home.
We saw the orthopedic surgeon today. It's a really bad break and will require surgery. He's scheduled for Friday morning. After that it's off to rehab until he's healed as he won't be able to put any weight in that leg. And will need 24 hour supervision.
We really need him healthy for the cubs home opener on April 4th.
Thanks Bock
Amelia

UPDATE April 2012
Yesterday, April 15, was the 100 day milestone. All restrictions are now lifted although Paul is still cautioned to stay away from those who are sick. 100 days is also the point at which Paul could go out to eat and have a beer. Have to admit that we cheated a bit on that one in the last couple of weeks - just a little. Today, Paul had labs, PET scan, and bone marrow biopsy. We will get the results of those on April 30; that will tell us how effective the transplant was. Prayers are still in order, thank you very much! We go to Mayo in mid May for a second opinion as to what type of maintenance treatment would be best to lengthen the time to disease progression. Meanwhile, Paul is feeling great. He has recovered from the transplant and is enjoying not being on any cancer drugs.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am writing this to tell you that Paul has been diagnosed with myeloma which is a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. It is a treatable, but not curable, fairly rare cancer. I have copied some info from www.canceranswers.com at the end of this if you are interested in finding out more about it.
I know that it would be better to call each of you personally, but that is overwhelming at this point. I do want to get the word out quickly, though, so that you can include him in your prayers.
Paul had what he thought was a pulled muscle in his side in January. He noticed soreness while working out and quit working out for several weeks. It improved quite a bit, but never totally went away. In May, it became more tender and he noticed swelling. He went to our primary care physicial on 6/6, CT scan was ordered for Friday, 6/8. He was asked to come in that same day for results, which at that time they thought was probably lymphoma. He had a needle biopsy on the mass on 6/12, and it was determined to be plasmacytoma/myeloma. He was referred to a hematologist/oncologist and had blood, urine, skeletal survey and a bone marrow biopsy done. We met with the hematologist yesterday. The tumor has destroyed the outer end of his 9th and 10th ribs. It was decided that radiation would be the treatment because he is Stage 1. We meet with a radiologist on Monday to schedule radiation. He has 1 of 3 major criteria and 2 of 4 minor criteria for multiple myeloma. It is hoped that the radiation will give him from 2-5 good years during which time he will be monitored closely, and then more aggressive treatment (chemotherapy, bone marrow transplant) will be needed. With this disease, for some reason, hitting it hard with aggressive treatment early does not improve the outcome.
There is stiill an outside chance that it is one plasmacytoma (which could possibly be curable) rather than multiple myeloma (which is not curable) We do believe in the power of prayer and hope that you will remember him in your prayers.
By the way, he still feels fine and is actually outside painting the house right now!
The Charles Schulz Philosophy
You don't have to actually answer the questions.
Just ponder on them.
Just read straight through, and you'll
get the point.
1.
Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2.
Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3.
Name the last five winners of the Miss
America pageant.
4.
Name ten people who have won the Nobel or
Pulitzer Prize.
5.
Name the last half dozen Academy Award
winners for best actor and actress.
6.
Name the last decade's worth of World Series
winners.
How
did you do?
And
these champions and leaders…They are not second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are
buried with their owners.
Here's
another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your
journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped
you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you
something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made
you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy
spending time with.
The
lesson:
The
people who make a difference in our life are not the ones with the most
credentials, the most money...or the most awards. They simply are the ones who care the most.
